We asked a manager about a specific products and was given a wrong answer!!! When confronted she got snipity and wanted off the phone. The branch manager in Avon was very unprofessional and even a bit short with me, very disappointing as ive been a customer for 20 years. I will be moving my assets to other financial institutions and in fact i'll stick to credit unions that can beat their rates hands down and are much more customer friendly. The Penfed Federal credit union is online and open for everyone to join, switching could not be easier. Good bye Thurd Federal!!!

I would stay clear of Barb S.
She lacks the ability to communicate effectively, and with matters such as a home loan that can cost you thousands of dollars as it did with me. I would describe her as very unhelpful, didn't assist me in keeping up with deadlines, and it really felt as though she didn't care about helping me or keeping my business.

The bank made a mistake when issuing a check to me after closing an account. The teller was very nice, but the manager was incompetent. I had to drive all the back there because they made a mistake and gave me too much money. Then it took over an hour to issue me a new check. The manager was reading some sort of written instructions as he had obviously never done it before. I would think managers should be trained in that sort of thing. The teller was more knowledgeable about it than he was.

As a first time home buyer, I highly recommend working with Third Federal in Avon, Ohio. The process was transparent and straightforward, unlike some of the other mortgage lenders I had encountered during the home buying process. I worked directly with Barb and had a great experience with her service. The loan interest rate offered was the lowest I found available.

I had a mortgage loan through Third Federal which I established in 2009. In August 2016 I contacted Third Federal to request either a new loan or a refinance. I needed to buy out the 2 other parties who were co-owners of my home. I was not asking for additional money. I started the process on August 12, 2016. A home appraisal was done/in process by August 15, 2016 and all information was sent to underwriting. FIVE (5) weeks later my loan was finally approved by underwriting.
It then took another month and half and getting our lawyer involved to draw up all the closing paperwork because the bank refused. Plus we had to work with the title company on our own. The bank did not assist us at all in any of the closing documents. We ended up paying extra money for our lawyer because he had to do extra work that the bank should have done. I paid $4,439.99 for closing costs for the bank to do nothing. I didn’t close on the loan until November 7, 2016. This process should have NEVER taken this long.
At one point the loan officer contacted me to let me know that the loan would be expiring if we didn’t “close” by a certain date because the interest rate is only good for 60 days. HOWEVER, FIVE (5) weeks of those 60 days was eaten up by underwriting, something I had absolutely no control over.
On top of all this I received someone else’s loan documents in the mail. I scanned them and sent the over to the branch but have yet to receive a reply. I am wondering who was sent my load documents.

I could not have asked for a better experience with Third Federal, who provided the mortgage on our house purchase! I'm an accountant, so I know what to look for in getting the best value, and went with Third Federal even though I live in NW Ohio. Their rates are very competitive and their six month preapproval, rate lock for 60 days at preapproval AND an additional 60 days from offer acceptance to close is completely unheard of! We also were able to take advantage of a zero closing cost option, saving us about $3,500 in closing costs!
The application and closing process was also quick and seamless! It did take I think close to a week to get the initial fully-underwritten preapproval. However, once we had our accepted offer, we had our final loan commitment (including appraisal and everything that had to happen) within one week! We opted not to because it was not beneficial, but if we wanted/needed to we probably could have closed within 2 weeks of offer acceptance! Now that is unheard of unless you're dealing with a cash buyer!
Clay, our loan officer, was great to deal with, easy to get in touch with, and prompt in responding and keeping us updated. And when there was a day that he was off and we had a time-sensitive question, Barb in their office was able to step in and help us out!
I cannot recommend Third Federal enough. When shopping for a mortgage lender you care about two things - price (interest rate and closing costs) and customer service (getting you across the finish line). Third Federal excels at both!

Was in the process of doing a loan with them and their appraiser stated my property was commercial. I sent over to the bank proof from the county website showing my house was not commercial and was advised sorry we go with what the appraiser says. Bad service, would not recommend working with them.
