Edit to remove prior poor review regarding the inability to cash a mis-endorsed cashier's check.. Branch manager was responsive and polite, and gave me an option, which I'll decline to exercise. Still not a fan of the policy, but at least the cashier's check is no longer worthless.

Tremendously disappointed about first mid on Broadway. Trying to put a check in bank to my account.. was written out to me, however it came from a bank in Effingham... It was practically signed over to me, where I had to sign on the bottom and bank. The person who wrote the check . I forgot to sign on the bottom where a red cross was marked. The young man said do you suppose to sign there? I said yes.. I explained to him why.. the assistant manager came around and took attitude yelled at me and said no you not supposed to sign there we can not except the check.. I was taken back first if all about her behavior. She practically called me a liar after I explained to her.. she didn't bother to call the bank nor did she call or ask for the number of the person signing over the check.. I have never ever been treated like that, after being with this bank for 40 years.. after she called the number I gave to her she then gave the check to the young man to put in my account. He gave me the receipt. I ask for him to tell her to come and speak with me. No apology about her being wrong until I told her at least I expected that, no, she went on and kept her attitude yelling at me that this was not an every day situation they worked with.. I said an apology would be nice. Her attitude with that was not quite normal..
After one hour the manager calle, making an excuse about the situation
Obviously the story was told to her in a way with no truth.. I will never go to the bank on Broadway, which bu the way was told to me also by the assistant manager. Who hires those people? Curious people at the bank should be expected! Not so!
Very disappointed

This bank is so very slow customer service and never available on the phone. They want to call you back at their convenience. That is just not putting the customer satisfaction at a priority level whatsoever! Their website login gives you pop-ups always! It is just not a user friendly bank!

I do wish that they hadn't closed down their downtown Charleston location, but from what I see, this location can still handle the demand in a timely and friendly manner

I've been banking here for 25 years, both personally and commercial accounts. I've always received professional and courteous service.

They allowed unauthorized charges of hundreds of dollars overdraft my account. I expressed to them I never authorized the charges. They basically said sorry for you and turned me into check systems.
They take zero accountability for their mistakes and expect you to foot the bill.

I've usually had an excellent experience with First Mid. It's hard to get someone on the phone a lot of times, but that's about it.
Fraud resolution is usually great.

Horrible to deal with when fraud charges are on your account. They take zero responsibility for it when you put a stop payment on fraud charges, and months later will charge you for it again, even if you do not have the money in your account. Then expect you to pay for it as well as any fees that happened.
