Staff aren't the friendliest and treat you like an inconvenience. And they want your money?... honestly the place needs a makeover.

I have "never" had a bad experience in over 25 years of banking with SLCU. They remember me anytime I do my banking, always insure I get stickers for a little girl and ask if my dog can have a treat. They have been very helpful in helping me understand what I will need to do in order to open an account for my special needs child who has recently turned 18. If you take the time to treat the employees like a person rather than your servant you may be surprised at how truly nice they are.

This place left me with a bad taste in my mouth!!! I went to one of their free seminars about purchasing a home. They confirmed everything that I researched about buying my first home. One of the requirements was atleast a two year work history. They asked me was I looking to buy a home and I said I will be in the next 6 months because then I will have in the two years. They said" if you meet all the other requirements like you say you do we will be able to get you approved since you are so close to two years." This is what the underwriter said himself and he even winked and made sure that I knew the loan goes through him. After getting assured that if everything else checked out I will get approved. I let them run a credit check and it was what I told them it was. Later they told me they need more information about my work history which I gave them. Then they called again for so more information which I gave them. I asked how long before I know if I got approved, I was told one to two more business days. A week went by no answer. Two weeks later I recieved a denial letter and it stated the reason for me being denied was because I only had 18 months of employment. Of course they didn't call. Out of curiosity I tried to get approved by someone else and they said you should wait 6 more months, we don't even want to run your credit because without 2 years we can't help you. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CREDIT UNION. THEY DON'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. YOU SHOULD Do Business WITH Honest PEOPLE. THEY MADE MY CREDIT WORST WHEN THEY DID NOT HAVE TO BUT THEY DID BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CARE.

I used to hold an account here. Recently I found out from a DIFFERENT credit union that my old account at SLCU needed attention. When I called their corporate office, the woman I spoke with acted like answering the phone was an inconvenience to her day. I felt brushed off, to say the least. Then when I inquired why I hadn't been contacted about this account, all she did was place blame with others. She NEVER ONCE offered any sort of solution and it was up to me to fix this for the sake of my credit score. Not pleased at all with my years of experience with this establishment. There are reasons I left this credit union; and their lack of customer service skills is once of them.

The WORST customer service I’ve ever dealt with out of any bank. Called for a simple question and couldn’t get an answer from the supervisor Shelly herself. Completely disrespectful when all they boast about is service. Absolutely not closing everything and going somewhere else.

I will never go back to the 80th St. branch again I will be closing our accounts.
And efforts to try and make a long story short I went into 80th St. to change my name yesterday and the lady that was helping me was the same lady I had asked a year earlier what I needed to change my name and she stated just the marriage license and a photo ID with either my former name or my new married name.
So I went in with my marriage license and an ID with my former name because I have not received my license with my new last name yet.
I explain to her I had asked earlier and they told me that this is all I needed. She proceeded to be rude and made fun of me. And I had said numerous times that’s fine. I will just come back. But she continued then I stormed out and told her how I felt how she was treating me. So I went to the 60th St. branch they were more than willing to help me they couldn’t understand what the issue was at the 80th St. one because they do things like this all the time I proceeded to order a new debit card with my new name on it but the teller at 80th St. blocked it because I didn’t have the photo ID on file and did not have enough nerve to call me herself to tell me she made 60th St. call me
Terrible customer service. This is not the first incident I’ve had with this branch on 80th St. they have screwed up my paychecks before and blamed me and my company when it was their fault.
