Absolute terrible customer experience, not that hard to pick up the phone every once in awhile. Do better, I would literally recommend anything else besides Belco, you’re better off just holding onto your own money.

Went with them for auto loan refinance due to great rate, they got all the paperwork they asked for. 10 months later they added $2500 to my balance and doubled my payment because they didn't have "proof of insurance" on the vehicle. (They never contacted me before doing this) Now after providing them proof of insurance they only refunded me $700 and I'm still paying double the amount i was for the loan. Ridiculous company.

Credit unions are not an alternative to banks. They exist so wealthier people within a community can, in theory, loan each other money with better rates than they could be getting from a bank. In practice, at least from my standpoint, Belco charges you a single dollar less on overdraft fees than PNC, who were actually more accommodating when I needed to talk to customer service.
I switched to Wells Fargo, who are across the board better to their customers than Belco. Thanks to that switch, and my second stimulus check being sent to an account that had been left open months after I closed it (to be fair, BB&T also lied about closing my account before), I still havent received it, despite the fact that a partner company of Belco has confirmed to me that they have the money. I gave up on calling and they never responded to a single email inquiry.
Being nice isnt just about being polite, its about what you do. Belco seems to be staffed by diplomats, who are very kind while giving you the middle finger. People who need to trust financial institutions with large amounts of money dont use credit unions. Neither do people who travel. Neither do people who dont have much money at all, and dont travel. Because theyre not stupid.

This is the best banking experience I have ever had! When you go in they greet you by name and are always super friendly and courteous! My kids love their Safari Savings Account. Overall, such a positive experience I couldn’t recommend this bank more!

Edited - I don't like some of the policies at Belco but the staff are very friendly and helpful so I did edit this review to 3 stars.
We were looking for a local bank for our growing small business that we wanted to be able to work with. At the meeting with their banker they seemed like a perfect fit. But that illusion was shattered shortly after moving our money into their institution.
First we were looking for a commercial line of credit. About 1/5 of the amount that we keep on deposit. Despite what the banker had originally told us Belco doesn't actually offer this in-house. Rather they outsource it to a third party with a shady reputation and charge points on top of that.
Second, we were looking to set up a few IRAs. Again, outsourced to a third party with plenty of negative reviews floating around.
Third, we twice tried to wire money to pay our vendors. The 1st time I was told to schedule an appointment for later in the week. But the money needed to be sent the same day. And the 2nd time I was told by Jen that they had actually researched the individual I was trying to send a wire to and he had a questionable reputation.
Are you kidding me? Stay away from this place. I don't need a bank that wants to outsource the work to some company with no local accountability. I don't want a bank that go above and beyond to try to thwart my growing business. I want a bank that will be our local partner and will work with our business and sadly, Belco is not it.
