We applied for a Home Equity Loan with a special interest rate of 1.99%. They asked us for the normal paperwork. Tax returns. Income verification of paystubs , Loans. Etc... Get that all to them within the week. 3 weeks later and not really hearing anything. I call. They have to appraise our home , it was used for collateral, on a $20,000 loan. One month into it and the appraisal comes in and our house far exceeds their needs. Then , they want the pay off on our buggy loan. They also want us to have flood Insurance even though the flood lines run literally around our house and garage. A $900 expense, one time payment because flood Insurance is not your typical insurance you can not make it in installments. In the mean time, our funds are depleting because bills and your normal cost of living still come in , regardless. My husband is self employed and hasn't been able to work due to waiting on this loan. I work driving for the school district but it doesn't pay for everything , unfortunately. Then they want to see our property taxes and reciepts. Meanwhile the loan officer is not in the office as much as one would think they would be. So , emailing is majority of the contact we have had with the loan officer. We sign for the loan , finally , 2 months later. We missed the speacial on the 1.99% and ended up at 4.99%. Because the time frame of them getting things done surpassed there run time on the special interest rate. Convenient. The funds were supposed to be available within 5 business days of signing. They hold your loan money in case you change your mind. Which put us another week behind. The funds were not available until 6 days after the signing. I must say I have never been so disgusted with a loan company/credit union in my entire life. I've had a few loans in my lifetime and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. No communication. No form of organization of what was needed from us. No sense of urgency on their part to get things going for the loan. We will never do business with this company again. Ever. Take a look at their reviews. At first there good and then they just plummit. I didn't look into that until after the fact. Don't get me wrong. The staff are very pleasent and easy to talk to but , it doesn't make up for the hassle and grief. At all.

The Rates on our car loan was killing us monthly until Timberland FCU got us approved for a new loan with them. The service we have received from TFCU is way above what was expected. The banking options they offer is much better than our local bank offers. Stephenie Peterson helped us out setting up our checking and savings account. The employees at Timberland FCU consistently go above and beyond for myself and my family. They give off a small town vibe with knowing everyone who comes in and making you feel at home! I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a new place to stash their cash or borrow some!
