I got approved for my truck loan through them with a super low interest rate on my 2007 F350. They have been super awesome and kind anytime I called in. Well, my father-in-law passed away right before Christmas and hubby wanted to take over his truck loan. The whole process, since the truck was from Colorado, was very difficult - but everyone at OCCU made it so easy! Helped us with everything. Randy and Ted were helping us, I forgot the gals name from the title department, and they were SO kind. Had good conversations and they were truly doing everything they could for us. Finally, after a long hard process because of the DMV’s, we got the loan!!
We’re going today to set up our checking accounts with them!

This place is horrible I wish I had never been appointed to them to do business. After purchasing the car I had heart issues and wasn’t able to keep insurance on the vehicle for two months. Instead of being understanding of my hardship they tacked on $700 to the car loan price. That is three months worth of car payments to kick me while I am down. The response I was given when I asked for a little bit of compassion was that they are compassionate but they’re still charging me $700 for two months lapse in the insurance when the vehicle wasn’t being driven and nothing happened to it. Horrible greedy people . As you can see car is the same as when I bought it

I financed my car though them and have run into issue after issue in the few months that I've had it. Their website and app are practically unusable and when you call them with an issue they are rude and condescending. The latest issue I had with them was when I made an early payment on my car loan and then woke up to find my account overdrawn on a Saturday (three days before the normal payment was due) because the automatic payment had still posted (again, three days early for some reason). They claimed that I had made an "additional payment" even though I had confirmation stating that it was a regular early payment, it had shown my next payment was not due until the next month, and I had even had my partner look it over to confirm I was making an EARLY payment not an ADDITIONAL payment before I submitted it. Someone else later admitted that this is a common system error, but the next person insinuated that I must have made a mistake. This is not my first car loan and I have never run into issues like this. It took me over a week of back and forth to get someone to cancel one of the payments and even then I only got a letter stating it had been canceled with no other follow up. The money is still not back in my account. I'm in customer service and I really don't need people to be overly nice to me, but they were so rude and strangely passive aggressive when dealing with something that was obviously a system error. There in no useful communication or clarity with these people, please don't trust them to take care of your money.

If you want to wait on hold for at least an hour while getting transferred at least 3-4 times anytime you need something, this is the bank for you.
If you want a bank with ancient systems making everything as difficult as it possibly could be, this is the bank for you.
Want to get run around with misinformation and frustration, this is the one for you!
It's super convenient that they're able to pass blame onto something else for every problem that occurs.
Even when you think you've closed your account, better double check cuz they just might have kept it open and not communicated that with you.
Oh and you'll need another hour on the phone of waiting and transfers to find out that their system is just showing you that the fraudulent charge that was disputed and resolved is still open when it really wasn't. Really great use of my time figuring that out.
If you need help from someone who can actually communicate with multiple departments so you're not getting transferred and put on hold a million times, better ask for a supervisor immediately.
Worst experience ever.
Please, be better.

I have tried several times to change my address with them and each time they say it’s changed and I get a piece of mail forwarded from my old address. Luckily I guess it’s still getting forwarded a year later but if I confirm a change of address I don’t expect to have to call again! My friend has also had a hell of a time with her car loan (saying there’s no insurance on file when she’s confirmed it with them multiple times, also having her address wrong, not calling back after leaving messages with them etc etc)….I had initially highly recommended them bc my own car loan went smoothly and never had any issues but now that it’s paid off I’ll probably just close the account for good.

I would LITERALLY give O.C.C.U. 10 stars if i could. Personally i bank with a different Credit Union only due to it being close to my house. I do all my loans with O.C.C.U.- I'm sitting here reading the 1-2 star reviews they're all from people that didn't make their payments..O.C.C.U. has helped me build an excellent credit rating- by helping me out back when my credit was meh- occu approved me-multiple times for loans over the years. They've always sent us mail saying if i need any help due to covid/hardship all i had to do is ask. (ive never needed it but nice to know its there.) Paid off 2 or 3 auto loans with them and have a mortgage with them as well. Every time closing the deals with minimum paperwork- I was expecting to jump hoops- occu closed every loan SUPER SIMPLE with ZERO HEADACHES. I would HIGHLY recommend OCCU- I'll be a member for life.

I refinanced my motorcycle with them around January of this year (2023) and in August I still won't have a title or registration. I actually think their people are trying to do a good job but this place is a mess. They lack transparency with direct deposits. Most banks and credit unions DISPERSE automatic deposits upon receipt but OCCU doesn't even ADVISE the customer of receipt and they don't disperse until the last second. They are evasive as to why so I moved the one direct deposit that I had with them to another credit union. Their apology for poor service seems to have become a rubber stamp. It looks like the only authentic replies are to the small number of good reviews that they get. Reviews are either perfect or totally failing. Mostly the latter. I worry about this place and the mistakes that it might make. I keep no money on deposit with them and let them receive loan payments from another institution. I suspect that very poor, and/or dishonest, leadership is the problem but I have no proof of that. Strangest credit union (or bank) that I've ever dealt with. They also seem to be finding ways to avoid Google reviews.
UPDATE: I finally got an Oregon title which I had to convert to a Washington title. I was missing some information that I had failed to retain. I was able to phone the OCCU title office and the person I spoke with was able to fax what I needed to the Washington DOL in a matter of minutes. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. I have two vehicles financed with OCCU so it's going to be a long relationship. I'm hoping for the best.

EDIT: I called the number in the posted response. It's just their automated phone system. No one was interested in helping me.
My review score stands. This place is THE WORST.
Purchased a used car with financing through OCCU. Despite the dealership providing them with proof of my insurance when I bought they car, they still hounded me for months, and even increased the payment on my car, and threatened to do it a second time, which would have increased my car payment more than 50%. When I finally had some spare time to call and get it sorted out, they couldn't even tell me for sure where the money I'm due in the form of a refund would go. I was told it might be credited toward the loan, which would be infuriating, because that's my money that they took mistakenly. I always had insurance. I would never recommend OCCU to anyone. Ever.
