Always nice staff, nice credit union. The drive through is very slow, recommend going inside during peak hours- before and after work hours.

I found the tellers here at the Cicero branch to be very rude and barely professional, they apparently refused to come back to the view screen to confirm after sending my transaction back. I used to use this as my main branch and will not be returning.

I deposited a check and the teller told me it was all set, meaning there was no holds, because she used a portion of it to pay my mortgage but she ended up putting a hold on the rest of the check. I used my card for $1.29 iTunes and courtesy pay charged me 7 times of $25. I called to figure out what happened and empower credit me back only $100 instead of the full amount and was told "I should've looked at the receipt and not went off what the teller said." Truly disappointed with this company as I have been a customer for almost 15 years and have many accounts with them, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Buyer beware. When you decide that you want to take out a loan with Empower, please read everything and understand that you do not need to take Life and Disability with your loan unless YOU choose to. The loan officers try to stuff this on every loan without fully disclosing the monthly charges or the product itself. Then when you want to remove it from your loan they tell you that the payment will still be the same as they will only reduce the term for you. Meaning: your 60 month loan with Life and Disability is $400 per month. Without it they give you a 55 month loan for $400 per month. In essence, making it seem like you may as well have it since its not going to lower the payment. And even when you make them remove it you are met with an attitude from the loan officer. In reality you can deny the coverage and the loan term does not have to change to "keep your payment the same". That is a tactic know in the car business as "payment packing". Your monthly payments increase $30, $40, even upwards of $50 per month based on the term and amount financed. Sometimes they don't even tell you they "added" it to your loan, its just there and unsuspecting victims just sign away. (This happened to me on every loan from them but I was fortunate to read it and understand what it was and deny the coverage.) When I contacted a supervisor, I was told this is how they are trained and it is company policy. "craziness if you ask me" This is a very shady and deceptive business practice by a lending institution and I am fed up with it every time I get a loan from them. Payment packing is against the law. No more Empower loans for me. Buyer beware. All i'm saying is that you do your research, know your rights and read everything before signing. Some people genuinely need this extra coverage which is fine, but the sales process should be disclosed properly to every customer. End of Rant.

Hold times are always longer than 10 minutes... And I mean I've spent probably 3-4 hours on hold this week alone... Automation offers to have you leave a number and they'll call you back... They never do. Had to drive 2 hours to their nearest branch just to speak with a human. Empower used to be so much better than it is.. definitely will be taking my accounts elsewhere.

Absolutely the worst lender on earth! You hold for atleast 20 minutes only to get disconnected if you do make it to speaking to someone they are clueless they are so unorganized it’s sickening I only gave them 1 star because I had too to leave a review. I would have rated zero. Trust me when I say find another credit union!
