This is only a Credit Union by name. There is NO advantage to banking here whatsoever. Not hours, not rates, not customer service...nothing. it sucks.
Up until now banking with HVCU has been satisfactory at best. You can make deposits, withdrawals and open a new account fairly easily, but things get murky after that. Overall account management and customer service is not a priority at this institution and it shows in their agent response and policy. In the age of widespread internet fraud, this Credit Union doesn't even have an option to report fraud built into their Mobile App, or as an option in their automated telephone system. Once you do reach someone (usually about 5-10 mins regardless of time of day) they will tell you that they cannot advocate for you and want you to call the merchant where the fraud took place... yes, HVCU wants the Account Holder to contact the merchant. They will then tell you that until the money is completely debited, they cannoy help and want the Account Holder once again to call back.. their idea of customer service is inconveniencing their customers as much as possible with inefficient and cold policy. No one offered to follow up with me, but they did immediately cancel my card.
Overall my experience over the last few years with HVCU has been satisfactory at best in terms of banking and in terms of service and engagement I would describe it as cold and uninviting.
I would not recommend this business.

The bank services and staff are great so far, my complaint is that the drive up ATM is so tall I have to unbuckle and contort myself to reach the buttons and insert my card, because I drive a sedan and I'm not a giant. If an able bodied person like myself has trouble I can imagine that a person with mobility issues is going to have trouble using it. Poor design.

I just opened a checking account and charges start in my unused account. I report to Hudson Valley number they are very professional reversing all charges and fees but they have a fraudster in the Mahopac, NY branch. Need to investigate and avoid this activity and negative reviews and customers loss. Associate is Jijy James.

Yesterday was my 2nd time at the Mahopac location. While it looks nice on the inside, the staff is less than friendly and even less helpful. I asked the woman who was upfront to help me with a bank check, we then walked over to the counter and I asked if it was possible to look up the name the previous bank check was made out to, so I could be sure it was made out properly. She promptly, and quite rudely, said "No" without any type of explanation. Later yesterday evening I visited the Carmel location, walker to the counter, asked the SAME thing and the teller was MORE THAN HELPFUL and was able to look up the information after verifying my identity.
Both of my Mahopac experiences have been a disappointment and resulted in a 2nd trip to another location. I will no longer be visiting this branch for ANY needs.

Horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they lead you on make you jump through hoops ,tell you its all good goes to underwriting keeps saying all good ,makes you get house inspection still all good then goes to an overlay underwriter and boom!!! declined just like that. If they are going to decline you they should do it from the beginning and not lead you on until the end. After all that I went to a recommended mortgage company and we closed in three weeks DO NOT USE THEM FOR YOUR MORTGAGE
