DON'T TRUST THIS BANK WITH YOUR MONEY!! They will not protect your account or your money. They won't stop charges pending on your account. They won't protect you from fraudulent charges. Been with this terrible company for almost a decade and ready to leave. Use to be decent but they don't care anymore and are pretty rude. Wish I could give no stars. They don't even deserve one. PROTECT YOURSELF AND GO ELSEWHERE!

I've been a member here at the Front Street branch (can't speak for the others) for years now, with a few loans done. Pricing is always great, and the staff is phenomenal! Just the nicest people you ever wanna meet... always a pleasure to deal with! Quick and efficient. In the rare case of a problem it's dealt with seamlessly! I'll always call them first for my needs. For one nice thing, you are wonderful neighbors. With my home directly across the street, I can always say my bank is really my neighbor. I began my banking with GHS in the early 1970's at the then Binghamton Psychiatric Center. Whoever knew then that you would move in right across the street. I am a frequent visitor and have never had a bad experience.
I recently had a question regarding a large deposit at your Front St. branch. Candice McGuane truly is a positive representative of your institution. Candice not only resolved the problem, she reinforced why I have been a customer of GHS for over 50 years.
I may not live in Mr. Roger's neighborhood, but I certainly live in one that represents friendliness and trust.

When my dear husband passed away unexpectedly about three years ago, I had many financial issues to deal with immediately. GHS employees were there to help me every step of the way. It was with ease and great professionalism they resolved all my issues and left me without worry. Thank you GHS

TLDR; GHS is okay if you are looking for a local credit union that you can visit *in person*, but inconvenient if you are not local. Below is my experiences as a customer.
Firstly, I have had numerous negative experiences with your customer service. I have been on hold for long periods trying to get a resolution to my issue, and when I finally reach a representative, they do not seem to want to assist or make it difficult to come to a resolution. This has led to frustration and further delays in resolving my concerns.
Additionally, as a recent mover, the limited payment options for my loan, being restricted to either check or in-person payments, are highly inconvenient and make managing my finances difficult. While the option of paying by card is available, the imposition of a 3% fee for phone card payments on top of the loan's interest seems unreasonable.
Lastly, the user interface for your customer portal is confusing and not user-friendly. I have a hard time navigating the site and finding the information I need. This has caused me to waste a significant amount of time trying to complete simple tasks like checking my account balance or making a transfer. I still cannot figure out how to begin a transfer.
I hope that you will take my feedback seriously and work towards improving these areas. As a customer, I expect a higher level of service and reliability from a financial institution. I am happy that my loan will be paid off soon. In the future, I will certainly be looking for a more customer-focused financial institution that has more options for people who are not local to the area.

Overall It’s ok. . Lots of turnover so there is never really that feeling of friendliness I get at other financial institutions when you get to know the staff. The H in ghs must stand for hold, as they put a hold on items other financial institutions hold for a day. An official check from a neighboring credit union (visions) gets a 5 day hold which ends up being a week with weekends. All in all ok, I’ve been there so long it’s just easier not to change all my autopays I set up long ago. They also used local contractors for work at their one branch which I liked seeing. Also you have to “order” over 5k in cash. Must be a hold on that too.

I have had wonderful experiences every time with GHS! I went to the drive thru to cash my checks. The staff were friendly and cashed my checks very quickly. They always said to have a great day with smiles, which doesn’t come easy for everyone nowadays. My husband received a personal loan very quickly for our roof to be fixed. GHS put us at ease by giving us that loan in time to pay for our roof. I love going to GHS and wouldn’t think of going to another bank! 😁💰
