If you have to deal with customer service on the phone you get transferred around until you either get disconnected or they tell you to come in locally. If you can make it in locally, that's fine, they will help. Arbitrarily low limitations to transfers and deposits on business accounts, and the process to increase those is very slow and should not be this hard to do. Mistakes in names on accounts and debit cards. When activating my debit card, I would just get disconnected. When I got a hold of a live person, they would transfer me back, same thing would happen. I spent several hours, about 12 phone calls, and 4 trips to the local branch to get things right. Not very impressed, but the local staff is good. Just changed my review from 2 to 1 star. Things I have called about MULTIPLE times are STILL not correct. Will find a new bank.

Big bank with hometown service. Knowledgeable lenders with great customer service that go above and beyond. Someone is always available to visit with or take a call. Great lenders that will stand by their word.

Ok so my father gets a refinance loan on his property. He is 80 + yrs old. They give him a loan for 30 years. Knowing he wasn't going to live to pay off the note. Anyway that's another issue. He passes away and my brother gets the house titled in his name in a beneficial deed. We have to sell the house and land because he can't afford the payment's. Now through all the paper work the bank sends a check to our dad's estate for less than two hundred dollars. The great southern bank, the one that gave a mortgage to a 80 + year old man, won't cash the check for my brother. He sold the house and they wrote the check to my dad's estate. It would cost money for a lawyer to cash a two hundred dollar overage check. Come on Southern Bank and cash the check for my brother. Jeez what customer service ..

The only reason this bank is getting one star is because that is as low as it will let me go. It deserves more like a half a star or none at all! Customer service is very poor, save the headache and bank elsewhere. I tried making a withdrawal out of their ATM and it claimed the amount was too large and did not give me any money. I checked my balance shortly after and the ATM took the money out of my account but yet I didn’t receive any of it. I have called every day for the past two weeks since then to see when they will refund it and nothing has been done, nobody knows anything (that’s when they do actually answer the phone) and I am stuck with all kinds of late fees and barely getting by just because of all this. I am a healthcare worker and worked hard for this money especially with the pandemic. I have worked extra hours and odd jobs just trying to recoup. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had and definitely would not recommend this bank to anyone!
