Since the name and ownership change, things have gone down hill fast. I’ve been banking with Lake Area Bank for over 20 years. Today I rushed to get ther before the lobby closed at 5. It was important. Sign said closed at 430 for some company function. Also, today, I called and got voicemail. No one returned my call. This too was important. Our furnace is dying and I’m working with a contractor to get a new one installed ASAP. They require 1/2 the money down but their attempt to access my account was denied. So now we’ve lost a weekend where the contractor could have ordered the equipment and put us on their install schedule. I am NOT happy and will be looking elsewhere. I’ve heard unfavorable things about this new company and it hasn’t disappointed in that manner.

I have been with Lake Area Bank (or one of their acquisitions) since I was a teenager. Used them while stationed around the world and am currently over 1,000 miles away from the closest branch. They have always been super responsive, helpful, and obviously the banking app is incredible. I am one incredibly happy customer.

Lake Area Bank in Lindstrom is freezing money out of accounts to use as their own money.

We've been customers here for decades, with checking and savings accounts. We started our daughter out with a savings account as a baby, and after she got her first job, opened up another checking account. It's been good to have her learn about handling money, including deposits, withdrawals and transfers; all which came in handy for paying for college. The bank helped every step of the way. We let her (with some oversight) pay her own college tuition, and have that satisfaction of knowing she was helping to fund her own future. The staff are great, and are so helpful when we/she had questions. Collette is our favorite, but honestly, they are all friendly.
This bank is fast with fraud alerts too! Two years ago, after my hubby went to a casino for his work Christmas party. Days later, we got an automated fraud alert phone call (after 7PM) from the bank. Sure enough, we checked the account online, and some guy was having a good old time buying clothes, smoke shop stuff, and eating out on hubby's debit card, 40 miles away. Mind you, hubby took cash to the casino, never once took the debit card from his wallet! So, we promptly called the number back to verify the fraud. The next morning, Collette called and we went over the fraudulent transactions, and we weren't liable for any of it, and she reimbursed our account. Whew!
Word to the wise, line your wallet with tinfoil if you don't have a RFID wallet, lesson learned! They can scan cards just by walking by you now!
We have not gotten any loans through this bank, but are very satisfied with our other banking needs here, highly recommend. Thank you essential workers!

This is not my bank, but I needed to get the cash I had into an account I have through an app for my bank and other banks on the network. It listed First Resource as a member bank on the same network of banks and listed that they could make the deposit. They were surprised they were not able to make the deposit for me. But they did some checking and found a bank on the network and called them to verify that they could make the deposit for me. But, because of my disabilities and the distance the other bank was, it made it too difficult for me. So they offer to drive me there!!! That they went to those lengths for a non-customer is incredible! Especially in today's world! If I wasn't incredibly happy with my credit union, I would Definitely bank at First Resource!

Why can’t you answer your phones. I know you’re busy but so are your customers. If you don’t answer today I’m switching banks I’m getting tired of this.
