Best bank I have had in a whole. Other banks don't compare. Spire has always done right by me. Will continue to use them as they have banks everywhere. Including up north. I love it.

Horrible service, I needed change so i stopped by at elk river location, they didn’t even have one car in line and no one was inside, both tellers were on there cell phones looked up and kept scrolling I sent my money in and only after about 2 min the guy put his phone down and lazily walked over looked at the money and asked what I needed, with a annoyed voice he asked if I was a member I wasn’t and told me he would only change money for members.. horrible staff I went to Welles Fargo wasn’t asked anything and they just changed my money..

Worst “bank” I have ever encountered. Just an FYI for anyone trying to sign up..you aren’t allowed to sign over checks to cash in your account because they mark them as fraud and force you to go into the bank with said person to sign it over so they can “witness it”. Horrible customer service, the manager argued the whole time and tried to get personal details about our accounts (stuff that’s absolutely not her business)…I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Any other bank can take signed over checks and not count it as fraud. Might wanna check into the policies they have.

I went into the elk river location just before close last week, I asked about starting a membership /borrowing (a loan). The lady at the front desk told me I would have to create an appointment online. I created an appointment for 9-6-2021 at 4pm. Fast forward to now I realize that 9-6 is labor day and they're closed. I waited for a week just to show up to a closed store. To be upset is an understatement. I feel as if their online appointment scheduling should have accounted for the holiday and not allowed to schedule appointments.

I’ve been a member at spire for almost 7 years and every time I go to the elk river location it has been a great experience. The tellers are always very polite and the bankers/ loan writers are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Most recently my fiancé and I have been dealing with issues related to our auto loan and title transfer at the DMV...... Greg has been amazing at helping us through the process. I will never use another bank or credit Union.

Our experience with Spire Federal Credit Union spans many years. Down to the very last one, all of our transactions with them have been outstanding! Their "secret sauce" however, comes down to their people!

Spire reached out to learn more:
1. Very low-tech. You cannot open and fund an account online. They trick you into thinking you can by collecting a funding source, but then you have to spend an hour per account in a branch watching a banker typing aimlessly.
2. No banking integrations. This bank does not use Zelle, or any other method to send money to others. If you want to be able to transfer funds, you'd better have a lot of time to wait.
3. Their customer service number is ineffective. The reps have no authority and provide little details.
4. Bill Pay is outdated. If you initiate a bill pay, they tell you that the recipient will receive a check (only paper check mailing available, kind of like 1990) on a certain date, but that is untrue. The check is drafted and mailed on that date. They also do not withdraw funds until that date, so if you have anything pending or money moving around quickly, you may get an NSF fee and they won't send the check, so you're stuck with late fees with the recipient and an NSF charge.
This bank is stuck in the 1990's with very low tech and poor service. If you have time to waste sitting in a branch, waiting on snail mail paper check transfers, and poor phone support, this is the bank for you. If you desire a bank with full service online banking, transfer options like normal banks, or other services we've come to expect from banks, go find a real bank. Spire is merging with another credit union and I hope they will improve service and technology.

This so-called "bank" is completely useless. We moved to the area recently and my credit union is not in the area. We were having a fundraiser garage sale for my daughter's dog that was hit by a car and so I went get a roll of quarters from them. They refused to take my $10 bill and exchange it for $10 in quarters because they said "I don't have a relationship with them".
At this point, even though I'm going to be looking for a closer credit union, I would never use Spire.
Incidentally, Minnco had no problem taking my cash and giving me quarters.
