I have banked with wings over 15 years and more recently have not been pleased with service. Last week there had been fraud on a debit card of mine. I do not use this card so there had clearly been a security breech within wings. I was called that my card had been cancelled and that I would need to contact member services to receive a new bank card. After 6 days I have called multiple times and have been on hold for over 12 hours!! I live 1,500 miles away and cannot simply go into the bank to get a new card. This is the second time I have been faced with such an inconvenience and I will be taking my money elsewhere. If you live near a wings and have the time to go to the bank whenever you need access to your money then wings might work for you, otherwise just avoid such a credit union. Not worth the headache.

I have used Wings for 10 years and I cannot believe the terrible direction they have gone. From changing the services in physical locations to be almost exclusively machine-operated with weird video functions, to the worst customer service I have ever received after expressing dissatisfaction with a service, I feel that Wings is only working to pat themselves on the back and not to support members anymore. It's a shame, but I suggest you take your banking elsewhere because you will not be treated well by this credit union.

I am a long time member since 1986. That's 36+ years starting with NWAFCU. Never EVER had a problem until the past 10 years. All this CU wants now is to expand their membership to anyone and everyone and they've completely lost their member-centered service. They are no different (anymore) than any other major bank IMHO. Still, I stayed because the issues were minor and just a nuisance, but, today, this one broke the camel's back - so to speak!
I can count on 1 hand the number of times I ever needed to go into a "branch" whether it be in CA or MN or anywhere else in 36 years. Their expansion along with their corporate-like culture has drastically changed for the worse. They used to be easy to work with mainly because I never had to call to complain. Now there are too many layers and red tape and bureaucracy just like a "corporation".
The kind sweet lady who used to answer the phone for 30+ years is no longer there and probably happily retired but is replaced by a curt very young girl who you can hear the attitude and sigh in her voice. The younger generation has no patience to answer questions nor do they understand the long-gone superior customer service we once were taught. Member services is about the same. They are young and uninterested in helping you understand anything and seem to enjoy antagonizing customers/members by repeating "vague" bank lingo instead of trying to help a customer/member understand.
I had asked about the HYS acct as it offered a higher dividend rate for larger balances. When the member services rep opened it for me to transfer my money from my "shares/mm" account they failed to tell me that it was possibly NOT ASSOCIATED with my checking acct. If so, do you think someone would have the courtesy to tell me that? Or, if they had any customer service skills, maybe at least tell me it wasn't or better yet ask if I wanted to "attach" it to my checking acct?????? I've had overdraft protection since the beginning of time (36 years people) and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH BOUNCING ANY CHECK BECAUSE I SET THIS UP 36 YEARS AGO! This morning, I needed to call my Dr for complications but instead I end up spending 2 hours with this bank issue and writing THIS. I was livid. Left a message for Kevin, Manager at the bank "contact center" I guess it's what's it's called now in Apple Valley. Still have not heard back from him. In addition to this epic failure, I have to pay $30 in fees? This has messed up an extremely very important large transaction that needed to be done by Sept 30 - tomorrow and now the deadline may be missed. My frustration has just been growing and I have threatened to leave so many times. I think it's time to take action now. This is not a good place to keep my money anymore for me or my family.
UPDATE: I finally did get a callback from Kevin after 3 hours and WFCU seeing my post here. He was kind enough to refund my $30 fee and at least listened to my complaint about the lack of attention to detail and decent customer care in their member services dept. So, I appreciate that much. However, I highly recommend better screening of new hires AND better training of your frontline personnel if you want to avoid all the negative reviews and build back your brand. Something like this should never have had to escalate to a manager level.

Full-time dad, Been with them since 2010. Put major money in & out of accounts Paid a few loans off. 2021 I got laid off for 6 months within that time I told them over the phone I got laid off. Give me some time and I'll catch up. Lady on the phone says ok I'll put it in the notes. 1 month later. They closed two accounts and a credit card. Called after I got a check and found out what happened. I'm sorry sir we can't reverse this, then I still got 2 loans with them. I made partial payments till I got a job. Went to go put money into accounts for loans. Found out they locked my checking, savings and the two loan accounts.and it was in collection for 3 missed payments. This bank ain't the same no more. This bank Cut throat like the rest. Don't lose your job or hit a rough spot. I wouldn't recommend them at all. No consideration for being a full-time dad who got laid off.

I've had 2 loans threw wings now and trying to get my third, my last loan I was pre approved for buying a truck, once I found a truck I wanted it ended up taking underwriters almost 2 weeks to figure it out and get back to me. Kinda defeats the purpose of pre approval. I paid that loan off after a year n half and now I'm trying to buy a toy hauler and the same thing. Almost 2 weeks in and I have yet to hear back from the underwriter and my branch cant get ahold of them!! They have competitive rates but be prepared for it to take weeks for a loan.

Have had multiple issues with this credit union. Kevin G. has been a bright spot in attempting to help correct the incorrect interest charged on my account, but basically said his hands were tied and the amount credited was less than half of what it should have been. I politely said I am not satisifed with this resolution and was told the only other option is to write and mail a physical letter, there was no one to talk to or email. Moving my money as soon as possible.

Been with wings since they took over my credit union. I have been helped by both wings and their mortgage teams over the years and have had decent experiences. They helped me a few times and the experience was as expected.
I think they can still work on a few things like a faster website and less of the video conferencing at a cash machine and more human interaction. I guess video tellers that cannot give exact change is where I started to give them a less than 5 star rating.
Don't get me wrong. The video tellers may be faster than waiting for one person or two people doing drive up tellers but I don't have the time to test this theory. It just feels like a cash machine with a face on it and I usually go there for specific trip money and I usually have to go in to get my money unless I am at the headquarters.
I have always been able to find a branch near me and most of the people that work there are great. They seem to really go out of their way when helping and make time to help you make the tough decisions.
Last, the auto loans are amazing. Never had to wait for an auto loan and Wings does their best to help you get into the car you want ASAP!

Never had a credit union employee ever tell me if I don't like something that I should close my account and go elsewhere. Wings Apple Valley has some of the most RUDEST folks & I wish had realized it sooner.
Been here since 2005. Left a message with the higher up & they never returned my call. Had A LOT of funds there. Thankful another credit union is more than happy to have it & the interest on the high yield savings accounts are even better. So THANK YOU rude employee, I will close my account & go somewhere else! That was actually GREAT advice. I'm done with Wings Credit Union! D O N E !!!
