I used to bank (checking and savings) with minnco years ago. When I tried to buy my first used car, they were a nightmare to try and get a loan through. I ended up getting it elsewhere with no cosigner like they were requiring (among other things) even though I had been with them for years at the time. I ended up closing my checking and going with the credit union that gave me the loan.
Today, I found out that they closed out my savings and credit card accounts almost a year ago without notice because of inactivity. Though I do get why since I didn't use the card, I find it odd they didn't even notify me and they took the money (though only a small amount to keep the account open) from my savings as a closure fee. One would think they would have to notify you if they decide to close your account, no matter the reason. Especially if they will be taking money from one of the accounts.
I would definitely not recommend Minnco to anyone. I remember having many other issues with them that I haven't run into since switching to another credit union. Save yourself the headache.

Very personable staff! Easy loan applications and approval. Much better option than mega-banks. Reviewers (Not the folks who had financial emergencies but the ones that offered no details) that have a negative experience probably were denied loans because of poor credit ratings. I would recommend this bank to anyone with average up to great credit.

I filed a complaint with the MN Attorney General's Office against Minnco because they closed my accounts without notice during the time my business was shut down for covid, due to a 99 cent charge didn't clear. They refused to fix their issues and put negative marks on my record so I couldn't open an account with any other bank. After the AG got involved, they removed the negative marks, but still made me pay $60 before they would allow me to close my account. I paid it gladly, so I could be done with them for good. I would never open another account with them.
