Think more than twice doing business with Dow, being that John couldn’t call me back and a lady by the name of Julie called me back refusing to give me a loan, when I already have 5 loans with them with outstanding payment history, and my debt to income ratio is 13% lower than there requirements, but according to Julie nobody told me that and I just pulled that number out of the air, but regardless I completely qualify every time I talked to them the numbers would change, I showed and proved to them that I make $2,000 more per month than what they were saying, and that’s with my checks being direct deposited all they had to do was look at my statements. they had one excuse after another one, and why would they average out two years of pay for a 13k vehicle loan, I’ve never had a bank do that, just seemed like no matter what john and Julie had there minds made up and didn’t want to do business.
One lady was nice and that was Jolene, she was very helpful and listened, but neither did John or Julie, now I’m moving everything to Wildfire

We are unfortunately in the process of buying a vehicle from someone who had a loan out through this institution.
Because I know there are extra steps involved in purchasing a vehicle with an existing lien I called Dow Chemical Credit Union before we purchased the vehicle to make sure everything would move along smoothly. I was assured once they received the cashier’s check from my bank (we had to drive down to get the vehicle after business hours so a wire transfer was not possible) they would email me a .pdf with the release of lien.
Never once was the fact that they can and will choose to hold the release of lien for 15 days after receiving the cashier’s check mentioned until I called them today to get the email with the .pdf release of lien.
Because the vehicle was bought on Friday night and the Dow Chemical Credit Union lien holder drove the check to their location on Saturday the first “business day” of processing doesn’t start until today.
While the Dow Chemical Credit Union employee could confirm that the loan showed paid off in their system they still refused to release the lien for 15 days. (Which to be honest is insane since that puts anyone in this situation at legal odds with the 15 days to register your vehicle after purchase law in Michigan. I’m already past the three days from the date of purchase that you can drive without plates as well).
I was finally able to convince them to call my credit union and confirm funds which my credit union happily confirms. But Dow Credit Union still won’t release the lien because while the cashier’s check has cleared their financial institution it hasn’t yet cleared my financial institution yet. Even though my financial institution has confirmed the check to be valid, verified the funds are drawn on them and available and confirmed us as account holders.
I cannot recommend doing business with any organization that seems hell bent on lack of customer service like this, and either A) blatantly withholds information from users or B) doesn’t understand their own policies enough to be advising people on them.
I’m now 48 hours out from having a c-section for my first child and unable to register my vehicle, yet Dow Chemical Credit Union has been paid and the funds are no longer in my account.
I’m super unimpressed with this financial institution and will ensure I never have even cursory business with them again.

Been with them for 7 years. Worst financial institution I have dealt with hands down. They used to be first class but it seems they just don't care anymore the last 5 years. The cherry on top was freezing my card when I bought flight tickets online for an emergency trip to Europe. I called in to unfreeze the card and they said I answered their questions incorrectly (I did not) and would not help me to unfreeze it (should also not have been frozen in the first place) before I had to leave on Monday morning. They did not care at all. I can’t wait to close my accounts.

Post pandemic quality has gone down greatly in general they're a good credit union but they're getting worse year over year. And they keep freezing people's cards for no reason I've had to get 3 new cards now and im not the only one they just seem to lock your card without telling you just for fun it seams

Opened an account asking if I had to pay two dollars to get money off my visa card was no is free for members. Few days later asked how I do it and was told after I showed them my Visa card they told me it would cost two dollars.
I closed the account and they changed me ten dollars.
I was lied to and took ten dollars from me.

Very helpful staff. I have a fraud alert on my bureau. Laura was extremely helpful and got my account setup. Great CD rates at the time I am writing this review. I look for to doing business with them. I dinged them 1 star because they do a hard credit pull, which is unnecessary when not applying for a loan. When you loan a bank your money, a soft pul, is sufficient to very identify.

Very poor customer service and they charge outrageous fees instead of just declining a charge. I've lost over $300 over them not declining a charge because of an "error" in their system and they refuse to refund me. After I refused to charge their incorrect fees they started going after my family for the money. Very Very Very poor customer service and I'm am happy that I switched to Members First! Please save yourself the hassle and never do business with this credit union. It's sad after almost 30 years of being a customer they would do this to me and my family. Please avoid this place!

I recently got a Mortgage thru DCU. They made it a relatively easy experience. I have since moved all my banking to DCU and have been very pleased. It feels like an actual credit union that is there to help its members, not profit from them. So many other "credit unions" have lost sight of this.
