FFFCU is a terrific bank. I was recently scammed and they assisted me in getting my accounts protected and giving me directions to safeguard other financial and tech concerns. I can't thank them enough. In the past they have assisted me in refinancing to a very low mortgage rate. I have called them on many occasions with various questions and they are always courteous and helpful no matter how foolish the question maybe. I would tell anyone that this is the bank you want to do business with!!

Well, I'm sorry to have to say this, but my fiancee and I had a very unhappy and upsetting experience with Franklin First.
Earlier this year, we applied for a solar loan. Normally, we are extremely debt-adverse, but we considered this a very acceptable reason to give it a try. Since we had made a habit of avoiding credit altogether, we were not expecting much, and would have walked away with no bad feelings it it hadn't worked out. But our application was approved, unconditionally. We were ecstatic. We very badly wanted a certain level of energy independence, both for financial and pragmatic reasons. (We live literally at the end of the line in the country and experience frequent power outages.)
So... great. We opened an account at Franklin First, as loans are only available to members. And then we had to wait for the solar installer to catch up and be ready to install, which took time. When that time came, we re-applied for the loan, which we expected to have to do, and... it was denied. It took us a while to find out that our second credit score dropped drastically because we had sold a house in another state that we'd been trying to unload for a long time. So basically, because of one good thing we did for ourselves, our credit was negatively impacted - something about no longer having an open account.
It didn't endear Franklin First to us when they subsequently tried to offer us a HELOC with a higher interest rate. We flatly told them no. We own our home free and clear and we had already qualified for a solar loan. We weren't putting a mortgage on our home. There's no good enough reason for that except one of us needs a ton of money for a life-saving procedure.
I call BS. We didn't do anything to make our credit score "bad." But let's put the credit report aside. Franklin First had already approved us. I feel very much like the second application being denied ignored the entire human side of the equation. Franklin First basically lifted our spirits - solar was and still is important to us - and then dashed them because of something we have no control over.
We're two good people. We always try to be good to others. This experience has very much soured us on ever trying to work with any kind of bank or credit union again for anything other than a checking account. If we get solar, it will be because we got a logging contract on our land, or something like that.
I also think this was a bad business decision for Franklin First. We are a good risk. We have a solid history of financial responsibility, and we have the records to prove it. We both also have stable incomes. That Franklin First made a credit report from a single credit bureau their only criteria is, in my opinion, a mistake. They would have made their profit off the loan interest and we would have gotten our solar dream.
So we closed the account we had opened and moved on. I wish them all the best, but we won't be along for the ride.

The simplest and most people forward, banking experiences of my entire life. It's also so clear, that the wonderful folks who work here truly care.

I've been a member at Franklin First for a few months now and up till now, all my experiences have been warm and humbling. Great team and definitely a credit union I would recommend to anyone. Especially now that they're helping me build up my credit when no other banks/credit unions would. I hope to stay a member for many years to come. Thank you.

I originally went in for a truck loan and was going to be about 3000 short of what I needed. After talking with them a bit the agreed to give me the extra I needed and was able to buy my truck. Would highly recommend franklin first to anyone looking great people to work with. Did I mention I have awful credit

I am grateful that Franklin First exists. They look out for the people they serve in many ways, including calling you up when they see suspicious activity in your account. When there has been such activity, they immediately correct the situation, including issuing you a new card. Thank you, Franklin First. I appreciate you!

I've been banking with FFCU for a little over 2 years now with no major issues. Until yesterday. I went to use the drive-up ATM about an hour after closing (approx. 1:00pm 4/1/23), and because I took too long making my choice, the ATM machine confiscated my card "for security purposes". Even though i had already entered my pin number and selected Withdrawal. Rather than kicking my card back out, it's now sitting inside the ATM machine. So now I sit all weekend with ZERO cash and ZERO ability to access MY money until I get out of work at 3pm on Monday. This is literally the WORST feature I've ever encountered with any bank. And I'm sure the bank won't do anything to make up for it except give me a new card. EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT!!!!! I will be contacting customer service AND emailing the bank president - this is an unacceptable business practice, and basically all my money is being withheld from me, which I'm guessing is illegal on some level. DO BETTER FRANKLIN FIRST!!!
