Mundelein location: Took my mom to do some banking in person. She has trouble walking and Miguel Reyes was so helpful to my mom. I cannot say enough about how well he treated her. Thank you!!!!!!

This credit union failed to pay the interest on my CD. This took several days to resolve with no one following up on initial complaints. There is no humans to talk to. My 85 year old mom tried to deposit a check. Using ATMs is next to impossible for her to use and there is no human to talk to even if she goes to the branch! I am going to find a new place to bank. I have been with consumers for 20 years. They used to have great service, but now their service and competence is abysmal! They appear to have moved to a online only service, but they are not getting that right. Stay away from this credit union. Find some where else to bank.

Consumers has slowly become the worst bank I’ve ever banked with.
I originally was a big fan of Consumers. I was approved for my first credit card(two years ago) for a limit of $1,000 which was fantastic. Unfortunately, that was about the only positive from my two years with them.
To begin with, their fees are outrages and the highest fees I’ve had with any bank including my business accounts which is INSANE. I asked for a credit limit increase and was only given another $1,000 after two years of constant payments while other banks have given me 10k with ease. They required an insane amount of documentation for the 1k as well which was very odd considering no other bank needed any documents. Their credit cards also offer little to no rewards which makes it useless in today’s day and age.
Mobile banking is impossible with consumers due to their ancient app which never works and is truly inconvenient at times. There’s no way to track spending or income. You have to manually sign in each and every time and at times, the app has trouble starting up. All it’s good for is checking your balance which is way behind other banks.
Ive pulled all my funds out from consumers and have only kept my credit card due to it being my longest account.
I strongly advise you to turn the other way and to bank with a bigger more advanced bank.

Customer service is non existent. The phone lines are not answered. After being on hold for over 30 minutes the line went dead. There is an option to having them call you back and "hold your place in queue" but this only serves as a clever way to get the customer off the line. No one ever calls back. Time to find a new credit union.

This used to be a great bank up until about a year ago. Suddenly their new and improved website doesn't function as well as before. Scheduled visa payments just don't go through after you schedule them, getting stuck in some weird process state, costing you late fees and interest when you miss a payment. Just as bad, when you call and explain this issue to the bank staff, they don't understand why this is a problem. It can take days to resolve. Also, CDs renew at the lowest rate possible, not the same rate you had before, without even letting you know in advance. Rates are rising, so this is really poor. I've given them several chances to get their act together. After 20 years of supporting credit unions, I'm getting ready to leave this one, because as others have posted, they make mistakes and the staff is unreachable to resolve.

Poor Customer Service the past 2 days. I have not been able to pay my bills through their Bill Payment Service at all for the past 2 days. I have payments due that will be late and I refuse to pay the interest and late fees because they can't get their service to work. The reps keep telling me "it'a a Chrome problem, use another browser"... guess what, I used other browsers and it STILL DOES NOT WORK!! Fix your Bill Payment Service and quit looking for excuses. This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!
