Worst experience EVER. They bought out my mortgage about a month after getting my loan. I always pay on my mortgage every two weeks to be applied to the principal, so that I can pay less interest in the long run. If you do that with them, they just hold your payment and do not apply it until they receive the other half of the payment, which is just wrong.
I went to make half of my payment two weeks ago, and they ended up taking DOUBLE the payment and told me I selected to pay that much in escrow, which I did not. It clearly even said on their website that I paid one payment of $523, but they took $1,046 out of my account. Once I realized this, I contacted them and they said it was MY mistake (which I had proof that it wasn't), and asked if I wanted a refund. I opted for the refund of $523. 5 days later, I still had not gotten a refund. This was right before Christmas, and I needed this money. I talked to three different people, who all said my money was in process but would not be refunded until December 30th. I had requested the refund DECEMBER 15TH! This is completely unacceptable. They said there was nothing they could do, or that anyone could do to get it done any quicker. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and was told I would get a call within 24 hours. I never received a call. One representative told me it would be quicker to dispute with my bank, which is what I had to end up doing, and got my money the next day.
They have numerous complaints on the same issues. RUN from this company if you can, unfortunately I cannot refinance away from them at this time since the interest rates are increasing.

Is there a way to submit a review with negative stars? There should be...
Until SLS began servicing my loan, I had never had any headache with automated payment systems, weird processing fees, or customer service. Once they took over, NIGHTMARES.
First off, their customer service is probably the absolute WORST I've ever dealt with regarding any professional company. Let me say that again: WORST. Extremely unprofessional. Informal.
I paid an escrow shortage, and received a receipt showing it was applied to ESCROW SHORTAGE. A month later, I'm told my payment was added to future escrow, and was never added to the shortage account. This resulted in a substantial rise in my monthly payment, resulting in late payment and being charged fees....ALL BECAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE TO DEPOSIT THE PAYMENT INTO THE ACCOUNT THAT THE RECEIPT STATES IT WAS ADDED TO!!!
It's criminal we can't choose who services our home loans. I pray nobody ever has to deal with these people against their will.

I will recommend this company to everyone who asks me about them! I was lost when it came time to make my first payment. The woman who took my call answered all my questions and told me about everything that I needed to know from how to make my account to how to make my payment! At the end of the call she asked one last time if there was anything that I could think of that I was confused about or if I had any other questions! They are very helpful and make you feel like a valued customer.

My original mortgage lender sold my mortgage to this company and they have been nonstop horrible. They didn't let me set up an automatic payment for the first payment, and then I forgot to set it up the second month because it had been on autopayment for so long. They called me repeatedly but never left a message and whenever I answered their automated phone system hung up on me. I tried to call back and their system hung up on me. I tried to message them through their online system but it says all their staff is busy. Finally got through to someone who informed me I had missed a payment. We set up a payment plan to pay that missing month's payment, $300 over 6 months, and he said it would be automatic. The next month, I realized it was never set up! And there's no way to set it up online without paying the full amount due, not the agreed upon $300/month. So I've been making an extra payment of $300 for the last 3 months, but I realized today they're now reporting me as having 3 missed payments! And there's $900 of "unapplied funds." No one answers when I call, online chat says they're busy. Beyond frustrated and looking for a new lender, even though rates are horrible now.

I would give negative star if possible. STAY AWAY from SLS. There is NO customer service. Automation phone recordings are set to continually connect in circles without ever speaking to anyone. If you sell a home, you need a payoff balance. Not only were they rude (like how dare you interrupt them to help you), they CHARGE you. And gave the title company an extra $600 fee-not the balance-to pay, but could not explain to me. Integrity is lacking on every level. I have no idea how they are still in business.

They try to hold escrow for decades after I recently paid $175,000 to pay off my home. I paid off my house loan Sept 23 & it’s now Nov 8. I called them every week looking for my funds that was held in escrow. My check still haven’t hit the mail and customer service representative said it should be sent off in 30 days so expect another 2 months before receiving. Just got told that Nov 8, Nov 1st , Oct 23, Oct 15, after they suppose to sent it Oct 12th which I don’t believe. I guess they will send it in 2024 even thought $175,000 wasn’t enough for them to send me 5,000 back 😢 Horrible experience with this company so I advise you to switch mortgage company ASAP

This company is the worst mortgage company in the world. They don't respond to customer complaints. You never speak to a human being. Their automated service is horrible. They force you to file written complaints that don't ever get respond to. They also make deposits that you never authorize. Stay away from this company.

We were a little confused when our service was transferred here but that happens with mortgages. Once we got set up, so far our customer service calls have all been efficient, friendly, and effective. System itself relatively easy to navigate (but we did have to talk to an agent with some questions and initial set up glitches). Convenient auto-payment schedules available, not always the case with some servicers in our past experience. So far we are happy to have our new account serviced with them!
