I've been a member here for years and never had any issues or reasons to complain. The staff are always kind, courteous, and helpful. I just wish the employees stayed working there longer.

We opened a account here as they are open Saturdays. Saturday are irrelevant when two years after a fake virus Golden 1 in our town decides to all of a sudden attempt to enforce mask mandates on customers. Didn’t bode well in a freedom loving community. This bank won’t stay open very long. Lol they closed their doors to the public soon after mandate due to the unwelcome but expected response.
F..k you golden/tarnished 2
Closed all our accounts Whoopie!!!

Awful financial institution. Their member wrote me a check that bounced, causing me to incur a returned check charge from my own bank. I wanted to present the check again, but Golden 1 refused to verify funds in their member's account, leaving me no choice but to risk further penalties by presenting the check again. My bank informs me that there is no regulation preventing Golden 1 from verifying funds, it's simply their policy. The purpose of this policy truly confounds the mind, since obviously if I present the check, I'm ultimately going to find out if funds were available or not. To date, I've now presented the check twice, and been penalized twice. Haven't been paid, and Golden 1 is obviously no help. Avoid these guys like the plague.

This place is absolutely terrible. Go to Wells Fargo. It's worth having to drive to Chico or Reno just to not have to deal with this joke of a "bank"

Oh, let me regale you with the delightful tale of my first encounter with discrimination at a bank. It was truly a riveting experience, I must say. The customer service representative, bless her heart, went above and beyond to make my husband and me feel incredibly uncomfortable. She seemed to have an endless supply of excuses as to why she couldn't possibly approve our membership. How thoughtful of her!
One of her brilliant reasons was that their system simply couldn't identify us. Can you believe it? We had the audacity to bring in our social security numbers, utility bills, and IDs, but apparently we were ghosts to her sitting right in front of her. Silly us, thinking that providing the necessary documentation would be enough. How foolish!
But wait, it gets better. This teller, oh my, she had a knack for repetition. She must have been practicing for a marathon because she just couldn't stop repeating herself. It was as if she was having a delightful breakdown right before our eyes. Truly a sight to behold!
Now, here's the cherry on top of this delightful discrimination sundae. We drove a whopping two hours for this denial that made absolutely no sense. And would you believe it? The teller didn't even bother to ask for a supervisor to review our case. How considerate of her to put a inquiry on report for no good reason.
But fear not, my dear reader, for our story doesn't end there. Oh no, we decided to grace a different bank with our presence later that day. And guess what? The vice president, that paragon of professionalism, never even mentioned a word about our previous denial from the illustrious Golden 1. How intriguing that they managed to use the same system without any issues. Truly a remarkable coincidence!
So there you have it, my sarcastic rendition of my first brush with discrimination at a bank. A tale filled with discomfort, disrespect, and a touch of absurdity. Oh, the joys of banking.

I recently opened a bank account with Golden 1 and they were pleasant. They give you a call after a few days to make sure everything is working and you have no issues or concerns. However after trying to deposit my first check with them I was informed there would be a 9 day hold on it (what?!). I've never had to deal with anything like that at my other bank.
I took my check back and was driving to my other bank to deposit the check there when I received a call from the Golden 1 branch and they told me there was some misunderstanding/policy differences between that particular Bank Teller's normal work location and here. They wanted to see if I would return and they would take care of me. Thank you for reaching out Golden 1!
I was probably going to close that account because that 9 day waiting period was never explained when I opened the account and after reading the "Special Rules for New Accounts" and if I'm understanding this right... the check I was depositing should have been available the next day. However it does state that within 30 days of opening an account if its not a certain type of check you do have to wait 9 days. Just be warned and know the policies of a bank when you open an account.
Edit: This would of been a 1 star review and a closed account, but the fact that they reach out and gave me a call shortly after this interaction shows they are trying their best to treat their members well. Well done Golden 1!

The attacks on you seem unfounded. I have bank here 25 years. Web Robinhood attacked both my accounts. You were on it immediately and fixed the issues at no cost to me. Better than other banks I had to use to run my shop.
